In short, granola is made by oven-baking oatmeal until it’s crunchy with nuts and dried fruits along with a natural sweetener such as honey. It came about as a healthy food in the United States in the 1960’s with the hippie movement. You can enjoy it with yoghurt, milk, almond milk or ice cream by also adding fresh fruits on top of it.
I recommend that you prefer it because as Mom’s Natural Foods we got in pursuit of “good food” with real ingredients. We increased the richness of the oat grown on this land with fruits, nuts, seeds and grains. We used apple juice instead of sugar. We added one of the most valuable foods in nature; that’s, wheat germ. We put our granola in the oven using Aegean virgin olive oil. By doing that, we were able to produce a granola that is high in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. We never added any preservatives, sweeteners, coloring agents or any aromas in our granola. We decided that it was especially important that our formula consisted of understandable and conventional ingredients. Thus was created a type of granola as simple, delicious, and as original as cooked by mothers.
We have carried out some of the first projects ever tried in Turkey: We have produced two savory granola bars that are suitable for Turkish people’s expectations and taste buds along with the carob granola, again produced for the first time in Turkey, whose health benefits are numerous.
Yes, our granolas include high amounts of fiber. They are also very rich in vitamins and minerals. They are a valuable source of Thiamine (B1) and vitamin E along with such minerals as magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Our savory varieties are also a good source of protein. Our granolas do not include cholesterol and are sugar free.
Oats, the forerunner of all grains, include large amounts of fiber and are very healthful for the digestive system. Oats are very rich nutritional sources in terms of protein and carbohydrates which provide us with great amounts of energy. The glycemic load of oatmeal is significantly low and that means it has a very little effect on blood sugar. Oats are also important since they include large amounts of minerals. Oats, which are excellent sources of phosphorus, also include calcium, iron and magnesium. There are also huge amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 in oats which are additionally rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, copper, manganese, potassium, selenium and zinc. Oats also contain sizable amounts of folate along with vitamin B6, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin.
Refined sugar is quickly absorbed by the blood and thus increases blood pressure causing insulin secretion which eventually tires the pancreas. We have used apples whose glycemic index is low.
We only use extra virgin olive oil in our granolas as we do at home. We prefer the olive oil from Ayvalık which has low acidity. It’s a fact that the monounsaturated fats in olive oil do not contain cholesterol.
The thing that we most cared for in producing our granolas was to use real ingredients. That was why we never allowed any kind of preservatives, sweeteners, coloring agents or aromas in our kitchen. It was especially important for us that our formula consisted of understandable and conventional ingredients.
The live part of the wheat germ, known to be one of the most valuable foods in nature, is its embryo that is its most crucial food storage. Wheat germ is a type of food which contains no additives and is rich in fiber and thus naturally offers a feeling of fullness. Only a kilogram of wheat germ can be produced from a ton of wheat.
Wheat germ is a powerful food source which has large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, sugars, complex type B vitamins and vitamin E in it. Additionally, 30 percent of wheat germ contains protein equal in quality to the protein in such foods as eggs, red meat and milk.
The greatest and most significant thing that differentiates oat bran from oatmeal is that it is rich in the soluble fiber Beta Glucan. Oat bran gives full stomach feeling and activates the digestive system. It includes such minerals as iron, manganese, zinc and such vitamins as vitamin E, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin, folate and other type B vitamins. Oat bran is also a significant source of selenium which is an important antioxidant for human body.
You may enjoy our sweet granola with milk, almond milk, yoghurt or ice cream or, should you wish, with fresh fruits. Or as we often prefer to do; that is, by the handful…
Yes, they do. Actually pure oat doesn’t contain gluten but unfortunately we can’t find that type of oat in our production country. There are licenced companies which produce gluten free type of oat in the United States. Because the harvest and production of oat is made in proximity to those of wheat that contains gluten, cross-contamination might occur from time to time which results in the oat in our land containing gluten. It’s advisable before consuming our product that you consult with your doctor if you are or your child is allergic to gluten.
Yes, our granolas are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
We are still working on our savory granolas that would not contain nuts; thus, would be “nut-free”.
Our production is implemented in our factory in sanitary conditions and we are registered by the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate of Turkey.
